As we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., it's important to remember the Jewish values of respect (Kavod/כִּבּוּד) and righteousness (Tzedek/ צֶדֶק) guided many activists during the Civil Rights Movement. Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, a prominent Jewish theologian, marched alongside Dr. King during the historic Selma to Montgomery marches in 1965, embodying these values.
